Essay ⎪ Pasolini and the “Power of Consumption”

Maurizio Borghi‘s essay presents a reading of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s critical writings as a diagnosis of present times, characterised by the unconditional dominance of the ‘Power of consumption’: “Pasolini’s thought is a primary and still largely unexplored resource for the elaboration of a new mode of thinking economics. His writings represent a unique opportunity to ponder the unthought of in today’s economics and, perhaps, to sow the seeds for a new understanding of human dwelling in the era of total industrialization.” The essay reconstructs Pasolini’s compelling diagnosis and attempts to identify the tone that, in his work, prefigures the overcoming of the logic of “Power of consumption” in the element of poetry.
